Best A.D. Ever

Hi everyone! I'm Miles, I'm really nice and pretty charming too. This show is so much fun, even though the rehearsals go late, and I get really tired. It is going to be so worth it, and everyone should come.

And Now for Something Completely Different...

I just sent out a bunch of serious, business-y stage management emails, and I thought I'd get a little wacky with a blog post, now that Ami gave us free rein and all.

I was reading our first post about the cast and crew, and realized that we were missing one very essential part of our team.

AMI!

Working with Ami has been so much fun. She's an extremely talented director, as I'm sure all of you readers know (and if you don't, you should!), and it very obvious that she loves what she does! I wish you all could see her in rehearsals. Sometimes, she gets so excited that she will dance in the orchestra pit and jump around during the scene. Her energy is contagious, and we are always so hyped up to be in rehearsal with her.
Basically, she's kind of a big deal and we love her a lot.

Alright, cyber-civilians... Now that our cast & crew descriptions are complete, it's bed time for this sleepy stage-manager.

Danielle, Meagan and Mike stopped by rehearsal briefly, to talk about the posters for the show this evening (09/29), Walking into a theatre, and seeing boobs that rival Danielle's(which is extremely difficult) was hysterical. The show is coming along quite nicely, and Zack's heel-skills are more fierce than a tranny at a gay pride parade in San Francisco! Can't wait to see the end product
Greetings, Blog World!
I just snagged the blog seat to say a quick hello before rehearsal whisks me away to Stage-Management Land. You soon-to-be-audience members are in for a treat! This cast is quirky, intelligent, and boat loads of fun! The show is coming together rather nicely, and I'm so happy to be a part of it! Ami is starting to call for actors, so that's my cue! Adios, amigos!
Until next time,
KC
Pouring rain on the way to rehearsal!!! Tonight is going to be a wet one...

For the next month the cast of Die! Mommie! Die! at the University of Tampa will be taking "Silly Ami" over and blogging about their experiences at rehearsals and all the amazing times we have together, under Ami's direction. There will be quotes, pictures and anything else we can think of. But, now to start with the band of characters...

KC Shaffer (Stage Manager/Ring Leader) leads the backstage crew with her incredible stage managing skills. She is organized, tough, always prepared and very firm, but always in the best mood and incredible to work with!

Emily Thaler(A.K.A. myself) is KC's right hand woman and is loving this experience and hanging out with the cast every night! Not much else to say! :)

Mariana Rocha (Assistant Director) is copiously taking notes on how the heck one directs a show, when she is not working for our production manager or taking over the action on the stage in Ami's place. And we have discovered that we had to create a goofy pic of her, as her fb is only full of stunning pics of Mariana.

Zachary Hines (Ms. Arden) plays our Die! Mommie! Die! leading lady - Angela Arden! It's been an absolute pleasure to watch him in heals every rehearsal and now also with boobs! Zack warms up our hearts every night with his laugh, sweetness and extravagant personality :)

Margo Stewart (Edith) is gracefully known as the know-it-all. From The bible to the Horse races, she's been on top of on-site dramaturgy (from inside her head!). Oh, and she's fun to have around, too.

Nick Haugland is our charming, seductive, macho man, "Don Juan" - Tony Parker! He always brings a lot of energy and, well.. testosterone to the table! Nick's humor and positive view on life uplifts everyone and everything around him (including Lance's... hmmm... spirit) ;)

Timothy Bourn (Sol P. Sussman) the youngest in our group plays the oldest in the cast - Old, jaded, constipate Sol P. Sussman. Here he is sporting one of Sols cardigans, direct from Timothy's private collection.

Griffeth Whitehurst (Lance) Seems to be latching on to the concept of dressing in women's clothing and prancing around the stage quite nicely. And he's not even playing our leading lady. Griff, the actor, brings a positive charge to every rehearsal and is almost night the direct catalyst of a severe dose of laughter.

Lyndsay Magid (Bootsie) When she is not texting acting questions during her law classes, Lyndsay is always arriving on set with a smile on her face and a word to mispronounce on her lips. Which one will it be today? Codicils, perhaps?

Miles Parks (AD/Tony Parker US) is one of our team of AD/ASMs. His focus is on keeping Nick in line, which, as we all know, is a full-time job. He was originally cast in the role of Tony Parker but that pesky thing we like to call life got in the way so he is with us 2 nights a week and there in spirit the rest of the week.

Kaitlyn Rosen (Dramaturg) rounds off our shining group. When not submersed in her own rehearsals for Sweet Charity or the Cabaret, she is researching for us and presenting us with her fabulous findings.
